Jonathan has over 30 years experience designing for theatre, opera, ballet and film worldwide. He has designed major productions for the West End, Broadway, many of the major theatre production companies in the United Kingdom including The Royal National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, Donmar Warehouse and West Yorkshire Playhouse.
He designed sets and costumes for the Tony Award winning production of Journey’s End and is twice Tony nominated for his designs for Farinelli and the King, for which he also won a Drama Desk Award. In the UK he is the winner of a UK Theatre Award and has received two Olivier Award nominations.
In recent years Jonathan has expanded his work for the screen, designing costumes for a number of short and features. In 2021 he worked as Assistant Costume Designer alongside Consolata Boyle for Enola Holmes 2 – a major feature film for Netflix made out of Shepperton Studios.
During his career Jonathan has worked with some of the most celebrated actors in the industry including Clare Danes, Gemma Arterton, Tom Hardy, Ralph Fiennes and Mark Rylance.
He very much enjoys the process of collaborating with directors and actors in creating believable characters for the stage and screen.
